Year nine students from Roleystone Community College spent their lunchbreaks during semester two reinventing xylophone parts into homes for birds and insects for their Young Re-inventor of the Year challenge, an initiative of the Switch your thinking program. According to art teacher Anita Littlewood, the entry was a first for the school, and she collaborated with music teacher Jane Slater to utilise xylophone parts to create colourful garden homes for birds, ladybugs, butterflies, and bees.

12 Jul 2017 Changes to additional discounted green waste and sorted rubbish tip pass sales
City of Armadale residents will no longer need to purchase additional discounted tip passes from the City’s administration office or libraries for disposing of green waste or sorted rubbish at the City of Armadale waste facilities. From 11 July, residents can pay at the weighbridge when dropping off sorted loads at the Armadale Landfill and Recycling Facility and the Roleystone Green Waste site. Loads must be sorted and can be up to 1.3 cubic metres. The discounted tip passes are in addition to the four tip passes that are attached to Rates Notices each year.

The 2017/18 year is a revaluation year for all properties rated on their Gross Rental Value (GRV). The revaluation is determined by the Valuer General and will apply for the next three years. The City levies rates to construct and maintain facilities and infrastructure and deliver all of the services that our community requires.
