City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the City was delighted with the critical projects listed in the recently announced Federal and State Governments $2.3 billion roads and rail package.

“The Federal-State announcement confirms that the Armadale community will directly benefit from several major infrastructure projects prioritised in the City’s Advocacy Strategy.

“The City has been campaigning for the dualling of Armadale Road and the bridge linking to North Lake Road and the freeway since late 2015. This total project addresses traffic congestion and provides better access to jobs, services, the Perth CBD and coastal employment region.

“The City also welcomes the kick-start to the Metronet railway funding commitment which will see grade separation of the level crossing at Denny Avenue in the heart of Kelmscott.

“This has been problematic for years and our residents have requested time and time again for an upgrade and solution to the issues surrounding Denny Avenue rail crossing and congestion at Albany Highway, Railway Avenue and Streich Avenue.

“We now await more information on the details of Metronet and plans to extend the Armadale line to Byford.

“Our thanks go to local MLAs Tony Buti, Yaz Mubarakai, Barry Urban and the State Government for their commitment to the south-east region,” he said.
