A City of Armadale and Switch your thinking initiative will unearth secrets about soil at a free workshop at Kelmscott Primary School during National Science Week in August.

Soil health, microbes and organic waste will be explored in a Soil Secrets workshop Composting and Worm Farming on Sunday 20 August from 9.30am to12.30pm.

Switch your Thinking Chair City of Armadale Deputy Mayor Cr Ruth Butterfield said the workshop will give gardening enthusiasts an opportunity to hear about the advantages of composting and worm farming.

“Composting guru Rob Gulley will demonstrate how easy it is to produce beautiful compost that will return nutrients to your garden and reduce your household waste.”

Soil Secrets is an initiative of the City of Armadale, Switch your thinking and the SJ Farm Alliance, to raise awareness of how the community can replenish their soils with vital nutrients by composting at home and of the important role soil plays in our environment and any productive garden or farm.
