The presentation ceremony for the winners of the City of Armadale’s FOCUS 2017 photographic competition was held at the Armadale Library on Saturday 27 May.

This year the competition was open to adult amateur photographers, with the purpose of capturing Our Corner Stores, attracting a total of 63 entries.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said there were many impressive photographs of several of the City’s iconic corner store locations.

“The local corner store is getting rarer every year and before they fade from the horizon we are keen to document these unique and often quaint shops.

“The City is very keen to continue to build upon Birtwistle Local Studies Library’s Picture Armadale photographic collection, and that’s where the community can assist with their local knowledge of these hidden gems,” he said.
