Do you have questions about your laptop, iPad, tablet, mobile phone or digital camera?

Technology savvy students from Dale Christian School will be able to assist you with your troubles Wednesday from 1.15 – 2.15pm at Armadale Library.

Flying High

Monday 7 August, 6.30 – 7.30pm
Armadale Library

Simon Cherriman, Perth based environmental biologist and film maker, is passionate about the environment, bird related research, and environmental education.

During this session, Simon will talk about eagles found in the Perth hills and present a short slideshow of stunning photography. A question and answer session will follow.

Refreshments will be provided.

Home Fires Safety

Local Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) firefighters, will present an informative session on home fire safety and the importance of smoke alarms.

As part of the DFES winter hazard campaign, this information session will help you to be aware of common winter hazards and learn what you can do to keep your home and family safe during the cooler months.

This session is a collaborative effort between the DFES Community Engagement team, DFES firefighters and the City of Armadale.

Family history research volunteers from the City’s Birtwistle Local Studies Library will be available to help you get started on your family research or possibly assist you with your road block.

Bring along any information you have that might provide clues for making your discoveries. These include details such as the names and relationships of relatives and marriage or birth certificates.

These special 60 minute sessions are available at either Kelmscott or Seville Grove Libraries.

Cemeteries can tell stories

Then come along to our Children’s Book Week event for toddlers and receive a fantastic rhyme backpack containing a book, activities, cd, puzzle magnet and more.

Join Rebecca Flanagan for a fun interactive session of action songs. The Better Beginnings Family Literacy program recognises that sharing books, songs and rhymes with children from birth, builds early language skills and improves future literacy outcomes.

Writing Workshop with Susan Midalia

Saturday 26 August, 1.30 – 3.30pm

Everyone has a story that matters to them, but how do we make that story matter to others? This writing workshop for adults will consist of a series of short writing exercises, focusing on language that’s evocative and engaging, and cover the importance of voice, character and structure of a story.

Bring along your writing implements, your love of language and your willingness to try something new.

Susan Midalia is a local Perth author. She has three collections of short stories, all shortlisted for major literary awards.
