The City of Armadale has engaged consultants from the Forever Project team to deliver a Fire: Recovery and Resilience Expo on Sunday 22 January, from 10am to 4pm at the Roleystone Hall, Cross Park, Roleystone.
The workshop program is designed to inspire and empower rural and periurban residents to make their homes and properties fire safe and more sustainable.
Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the drying climate that we are experiencing has resulted in an increased risk of bushfires throughout the state.
“The workshop is an opportunity for residents to learn from the experts how to protect their homes and properties from the possible threat of a bushfire, and fine tune or prepare a Bushfire Survival Plan with advice from the experts.
“Well known bushfire, gardening and sustainable presenters include Chris Ferreira, Rohan Carboon and design architect Richard Hammond.
“They will discuss different ways to protect your properties in a way that complements the bushland and natural areas of the City,” he said.
A range of topics include information on fire safe sustainable landscape management and design, bushland management (how to balance fuel loads), how to interpret AS 3959 Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) assessments and give strategies and tips on building or retrofitting for fire safety and recovery.
