22 Jul 2024 Polyphagous shot hole borer has crossed the City of Armadale border
The City of Armadale has been informed by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) that the Polyphagous shot hole borer (PSHB) has been found inside the City’s boundary. Up until recently, the PSHB had not been detected in anywhere in the City of Armadale. It has now been detected near our boundary with the City of Gosnells, in Kelmscott.
12 Jul 2024 Local Artist helps bring NAIDOC week to life for at the City of Armadale
As part of the City’s NAIDOC week celebration for 2024, a competition was held for local artists. The Art Business Development Competition encouraged local emerging artists to submit a design that included the theme for NAIDOC Week 2024- Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud and to include their connection to the Armadale region as part of the design.

17 Jun 2024 Australia Day 2025 Event Cancellation due to Metronet Works
The City of Armadale Council has reluctantly made the tough decision to cancel its Australia Day 2025 event and fireworks, due to the impact of the Metronet Byford Rail Extension works. The City has been notified by Metronet’s contractor (Metconnx) that the extent of work planned for January 2025 requires public exclusion from many areas which would prevent a large public gathering in and around Minnawarra Park and Armadale Road. These works mean the City’s usual Australia Day event location at Minnawarra Park is not able to be used.
5 Jun 2024 AFAC awarded Gold Waterwise Aquatic Centre
The Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre (AFAC) was recently awarded and recognised as a Gold Waterwise Aquatic Centre. As part of the Waterwise Aquatic Centre Program, this is a joint Water Corporation and Leisure Institute of Western Australia Aquatics (LIWA) initiative to encourage waterwise practices among aquatic centres.

22 May 2024 City of Armadale proud to support Rowing WA in 2024
The City of Armadale is proud to be sponsoring Rowing WA, as it hosts three marquee events at the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre in 2024. The Rowing WA Championship series celebrates the sport at every level; School, Club, Masters and Elite. With three State Championship regattas catering to distinct demographics, participants have the chance to compete against their peers, and strive for personal bests.
20 May 2024 City of Armadale 2024 FOCUS Photography competition winners announced
The City of Armadale 2024 FOCUS Photography competition awards were held at Armadale Library on Saturday 18 May 2024. The competition which is hosted by Birtwistle Local Studies Library aims to capture the present day historical reality whilst growing the photographic collection. The 2024 competition received 206 entries, across the two categories of photograph and drone. This year’s theme was Spotlight on Hilbert and Haynes, aiming to capture the characteristics of the two suburbs, by showcasing their communities, facilities, environment, and continued development.
7 May 2024 Statement in response to resident’s enquiry about water usage by Coca Cola
A planning approval was granted by the City in 1992 for the cartage of spring water from a private property in Roleystone 2-3 times a week. In 1996 an application was received to increase that to 18-22 loads a week and Council deferred the application pending receipt of a hydrogeological report. The applicant then lodged an appeal to the Minister for Planning, Graham Kierath MLA, against the City’s deemed refusal of this application.

The City of Armadale is delighted to announce the winners of the 2024 Minnawarra Art Awards for 2024. This is the 27th year of the Minnawarra Art Awards. The exhibition and awards ceremony took place on Friday 3 May 2024.

30 Apr 2024 Grand reopening for Roleystone Theatre
The grand reopening of the Roleystone Theatre took place on Friday April 19 2024, and was celebrated with a special Hollywood themed opening night. The City of Armadale was delighted to continue the legacy of this historic theatre, providing all the funding for the rebuild.

27 Mar 2024 Dragon Boat AusChamps 2024 returns to Champion Lakes
The City of Armadale is excited to announce the return of the Dragon Boat AusChamps, to the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre. The event will take place from 17 April 2024 - 21 April 2024. This marks the return of the AusChamps to Champion Lakes after it hosted the 2015 event. Sponsored by the City of Armadale, the AusChamps will see hundreds of elite dragon boat athletes from all over Australia descend onto the waters at the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre, to compete in fast and furious dragon boat racing.
25 Mar 2024 City of Armadale awarded funding to develop ‘Six Seasons Trails’ project
The City of Armadale is delighted to have been successful in applying for a funding grant by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Culture (DLGSC), to develop our ‘Six Seasons Trails’ project. The DLGSC awarded the maximum of $25,000 as part of their Hiking Participation Grants funding round for 2024/2025.
20 Mar 2024 City of Armadale’s inaugural Better Business Forum a resounding success
The City of Armadale hosted its first Better Business Forum last Thursday 14 March 2024. The event was a resounding success after reaching maximum capacity several weeks prior with pre-registrations. The event was hosted at Beaver Tree Services in Forestdale Business Park and saw 48 attendees representing 31 local businesses.  A range of industries were represented including manufacturing, healthcare, import and export, construction, retail, and aged care.
19 Mar 2024 City of Armadale to co-host WA Trails Forum 2024
The City of Armadale is delighted to be co-hosting the annual WA Trails Forum 2024, with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC). This will be supported in partnership by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and Trails WA. The event will be held on Friday 19 April 2024, from 9am-430pm, hosted at Armadale District Hall.
6 Mar 2024 Wayne Perry to headline Armadale Arts Festival 2024
Singer/songwriter Wayne Perry will be headlining the Armadale Arts Festival, kicking off on Friday 3 May 2024 and running until Sunday 19 May 2024. The Armadale Arts Festival remains a staple event in the WA art calendar, and the City is excited that Wayne will be our feature artist for 2024.

The City of Armadale is proud to be hosting the Better Business Forum and Networking event, on Thursday 14 March 2024. The event is hosted in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA) and will take place at Forrestdale Business Park. Beaver Tree Services will be our venue host.

14 Feb 2024 Children’s Toy Swap saves 111.6kgs from landfill
The City’s first Children’s Storytime and Toy, Games and Book Swap has been a resounding success, with 111.6kgs of items diverted from landfill. This event saw 23 families attend, with 111.6kgs of items donated. 55kgs of these were swapped and taken home to be used and loved once again, whilst the remaining 56.6kgs were donated to St Vinnies and Drop ‘n’ Shop Reuse Centre, extending their life.
7 Feb 2024 AFAC beats record for swim school enrolments (again)
The Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre (AFAC) has surpassed last season’s swim school enrolments, hitting 3,700 at the start of February 2024. Last March, the Swim School set a WA all time high of 3,607, putting us a month ahead of numbers from 2023.

The Every Woman Triathlon returns to the iconic Champion Lakes Regatta Centre on Sunday 18 February 2024. The City of Armadale is a proud sponsor of this event, and looks forward to welcoming both new and returning participants back to Champion Lakes.

30 Jan 2024 Jeffrey Harold Munn CMC awarded Honorary Freeman
The City of Armadale is pleased to announce that Mr Jeffrey Harold Munn CMC has been officially awarded the title of Honorary Freeman of the Municipality. Jeff served the community as a Councillor for 36 years, which included 14 years as the Deputy Mayor of the City. He began his local government service in 1975, and during his time served as a committee member of many council and state committees. Jeff has been a civil marriage celebrant since 1983, and has presided over 3400 weddings, funerals, and naming ceremonies. He was a Justice of the Peace for 24 years.

17 Jan 2024 City to host inaugural Children’s Storytime and pre-loved toy swap
After the success of the November 2023 inaugural Swap – Don’t Shop Fashion Gala event, the City of Armadale will be hosting a Children’s Storytime, featuring a toy, game and book swap. This free event is scheduled for Saturday 3 February 2024, from 10.00am -11.00am, at Armadale District Hall.
11 Jan 2024 City launches Reconciliation Action Plan
The City of Armadale recently launched a first of its kind Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2023-2025. The RAP’s aim, as defined by Reconciliation Australia, “is to provide tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, increasing economic equity and supporting First Nations self-determination”. The Innovate RAP framework provided by Reconciliation Australia comprises four key areas to progress meaningful reconciliation: relationships, respect, opportunities, and governance.
