Champion Centre services relocate during 2018

Thanks to Lotterywest, the City of Armadale’s Champion Centre and Seville Grove Library will be rejuvenated during 2018. From January to December 2018, some services will be relocated to the nearby Harold King Community Centre.

The Champion Centre is home to the City’s Indigenous Development team, along with community organisations collectively providing a community hub. .

Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said the Champion Centre will be the focus of improved building design, and enhancements to the outdoor area for both the Champion Centre and Seville Grove Library.

“A digital hub will be created for Seville Grove Library, with a view to increase training opportunities, improve literacy and job readiness, Mayor Zelones said.

The new outdoor area for both the Champion Centre and Seville Grove Library will feature a yarning circle, an outdoor classroom, nature play areas and edible gardens.

During 2018, the Harold King Community Centre will accommodate some services usually provided at the Champion Centre including the City of Armadale’s Indigenous Development team, Child and Adolescent Health, Palmerston Counselling and Dawn Alcohol and Drug Counselling.

“We appreciate the community’s patience during the construction stage, and we are looking forward to welcoming residents and service providers back to a transformed Champion Centre and Seville Grove Library in early 2019.”

“It is has been great to receive such significant support from Lotterywest for the project, rejuvenating the Champion Centre precinct which offers so many important services to our community,”  Mayor Zelones said.
