Runners donning kilts for the Perth Kilt Run on Sunday 10 September will be giving back to their community, and not just through pure entertainment value.

Proceeds from registrations for the Perth Kilt Run will be donated to three local charities, The Amanda Young Foundation, the Intensive Care Foundation and Armadale based headspace, providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds.

Manager Annette Chivers said the Perth Kilt Run represents a great community event for Headspace to be involved in, and it is wonderful that proceeds from registrations go back in to the community.

“Physical activity is fantastic for mental health, and we encourage our clients to stay active, and connected with their community. Perth Kilt Run checks both these boxes,” Ms Chivers said.

headspace is a government initiative, with 11 offices situated across Western Australia. The Armadale location has been open for approximately two years and is helping a growing number of clients with mental health, work and study services, medical assistance through an in-house Doctor, and drug and alcohol support.

headspace is also helping local teens curb school holiday boredom, with programs in place for the September/October holidays.

“We have an Origami workshop on 27 September, and a short course on how to write SLAM poetry, to be delivered over two workshops on the 3rd and 4th October. The great news is both programs are free,” Ms Chivers said.

To register for the Perth Kilt Run, visit www.perthkiltrun.com.au. Registrations close at noon on Saturday 9 September. To register for one of the headspace programs being held over the school holidays, or to find out more about how they can help, visit https://headspace.org.au/headspace-centres/armadale/.
