The tourism team at the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre are hoping to walk away winners of a prestigious tourism award, after being named finalists in two categories in Western Australia’s tourism awards this month.

The Perth Hills Armadale Visitor centre was named one of four finalists in Category 9 – Visitor Information Services, and one of two finalists in Category 28 – the Local Government Award for Tourism, in the Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards 2017.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said that he was thrilled the Centre had been named as a finalist in the prestigious awards and the recognition was an honour for the Centre, staff and the City.

“I wish to congratulate the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre team on making the list of finalists. This kind of recognition from the tourism industry is testament to the excellence in operations and customer service provided to visitors to the region which includes information on experiences, restaurants, events and natural sights.

“It is also an honour for the City to be selected as a finalist for the category of Local Government Award for Tourism. The City has delivered on several objectives of the Tourism Strategy to be eligible to qualify for this award.

“It is a huge achievement for the team in such a short timeframe.”

Visitors to Armadale are spoilt for choice when visiting the region. Armadale is nestled amongst scenic parks and picturesque valleys and has a unique community feel.

“Our real advantage for our tourism operators is the nationally recognised Level 1 accreditation by the Tourism Council and easily accessible positioning to northern and southern parts of Western Australia.

“Armadale is a lovely place to visit for a day trip to enjoy the natural surrounds of the Armadale Perth Hills, there are so many experiences to immerse yourself in,” added Mayor Zelones.

The Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards recognise the quality and diversity of tourism attractions, amenities and experiences that Western Australia has to offer.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 11 November.

If the centre is placed as a gold medal winner in category 9 for its Visitor Information Services, it will go on to represent WA at the national awards.
