Scotland has been voted the most beautiful country in the world by readers of the Rough Guide1. The City of Armadale is bringing a little bit of Scotland to WA by delivering the Armadale Highland Gathering and Perth Kilt Run this Sunday 10 September 2017 from Minnawarra Park from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said Scotland has always been held in high regard by travellers the world over, and the recent revelations by Rough Guide confirms our suspicions about the world’s thoughts on this beautiful country.

“It is fantastic that we can bring a little bit of Scotland to the State, not only offering the many Scots living in Western Australia a cultural celebration, but providing others living in WA with insight into Scottish life,” Mayor Zelones said.

The Highland Gathering and the Perth Kilt Run attracts thousands to the heart of Armadale each year, with hundreds donning a kilt for a fun run around the City centre, with 2.5 and 5 kilometre routes available.

“It is always great to see a sea of tartan at the event, with kilts available for purchase from the City of Armadale, or for hire from various providers around Perth, Mayor Zelones said.

If the recent Rough Guide results have you considering a trip to Scotland, the Armadale Gathering provides the perfect glimpse, from highland dancers and pipe bands, to heavy events featuring strong men and women plus a Scottish tavern delivering authentic Scottish food and beverages.

“There will also be live music, a Medieval Fair, Clan Village, and a meet and greet with Scottish dogs, where you can talk to breeders, and watch the dogs perform agility demonstrations,” Mayor Zelones said.

Perth Kilt Run entry fees apply of $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for youth, with free entry for children 12 years and under. Group discounts are available. Fun runners can purchase a kilt online during the registration process, so they can wear it on the day.

“Proceeds from the registration fees go to the local charities The Amanda Young Foundation, the Intensive Care Foundation and Headspace Armadale, which is another reason to be involved in this year’s event.”

To register for the Perth Kilt Run, and find out more about the event visit www.perthkiltrun.com.au. Registrations close at midday on Saturday 9 September 2017. The Armadale Highland Gathering and the Perth Kilt Run is proudly presented by the City of Armadale.
