Armadale’s popular Birtwistle Local Studies Library, which delivers an extensive collection of reference books, maps, oral history recordings and transcripts has received a revamp to its foyer recently.

Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said for those residents not aware of all the Birtwistle Library has to offer, now is a good time to visit.

“We have staff and experienced volunteers available to help you research your family history, and answer your questions about Armadale of the past,” Mayor Zelones said.

The recent upgrade has also seen the introduction of a new display, showcasing the demographic changes in the district’s population from predominantly European to a world-wide mix of cultural backgrounds.

“We always welcome additional family histories, and photographs of the district and community members, to enhance our collection,” Mayor Zelones said.
