Commencing in February, the Armadale Library will host a six part series of free Cosplay workshops and panels.

Whether you’re a fan with aspirations, or long term Cosplayer, these colourful sessions will appeal to all ages. You can attend one, some or all of the session, but places are limited so bookings are essential.

Saturday 4 February

Introduction to Cosplay

Come and find out what Cosplay is all about. Experts from Comet WA, and Perth Champion Cosplayer Astrokerrie will be on the panel and at the workshop to share their talents and tricks. This session runs from 3–4pm.

The following sessions consist of discussions panels from 1-2pm, followed by workshops from 2-3pm.

Saturday 11 February

Cos Couture

The panel and workshop will include Histoiri Bree, Kirilee Cosplay and Comet WA. They will share tips and skills you need to help you start creating your own Cosplay costume or finish an existing project.

Saturday 25 February

A Call to Arms

Join Astrokerrie, Epic Armoury’s Australian ambassador, and Ngaire from DuskRaven Costumerie as they share their wealth of experience making arms and armour for Cosplay and LARPing. Bring pieces you’re working on and ask questions from the experts.

Saturday 18 March

Let’s Get Digital

The City of Armadale Library’s 3D printer has helped bring several astromech droids to life. Join Grant Thomson from the Rebel Alliance, and Ewan MacLeod (Drayke Cosplay) to talk electronics, programming, 3D printing, wearables, and all things technical. If in doubt, put a blinking light on it.

Saturday 1 April

Grab a brush and put on a little make-up

Make-up and effects are a huge part of Cosplay. Come learn about FX from Cosplayer Danpool (Danni Guyer) and make-up tips from Bekki Broughton. Find out how to put those finishing touches on your costume and what shade of blood goes well with blue skin.

Saturday 22 April

The World’s a Stage

Our final session will look at the finished product. Learn about poses and getting into character with Maggie from Comet WA, Histoiri Bree, and Kirilee Cosplay. Then explore the other side of the camera and learn some photography tips from Danica Zuks and Jo Black (RedScarf Photography). Come in costume and show off your new found skills.
