Although the City’s role in relation to the health and well-being of the community is often understated, the range of services delivered by the City help to establish many of the necessary conditions upon which good health and well-being is determined.
Health and wellbeing
In 2016, the WA State Government introduced a new Public Health Act. As this Act is phased in, Local Government will have a greater role in creating supportive environments that allow community to experience good health. The City has been proactive in this area through developing a Public Health Plan that outlines key strategies and actions which fit under the board priority areas of:
- Environmental Health Protection
- Chronic Disease Prevention and
- Enhanced Community Lifestyle
