Community consultation on future of Roley Pools

The City of Armadale is seeking public comment on the Draft Roley Pools Heritage Walk Trails Management Plan.

The management plan provides a strategic approach for the management of the reserves adjacent to the Canning River in Roleystone between Soldiers Road and Heritage Drive, for the next 10 years.

The submissions received during the consultation period will help provide a clear direction as to how the City will manage the funding mechanisms for annual maintenance, infrastructure works, a recreation strategy and signage upgrades.

A copy of the proposed Draft Roley Pools Heritage Walk Trails Management Plan can be downloaded from the City’s website www.armadale.wa.gov.au/out-comment.

Comments are invited in writing and should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, City of Armadale, Locked Bag 2, Armadale WA 6992 or via email to info@armadale.wa.gov.au and must be received before 4pm on 23 March 2018.

Roleystone Theatre doors close for works

The Roleystone Theatre has been closed for an essential structural assessment of the building while the City carries out a number of works.

In preparation to undertake upgrade works to remove some of the existing asbestos panelling and replace the theatre roof, a structural assessment was undertaken which identified that the removal of the asbestos panelling would affect structural elements of the building. The report identified urgent works were required, mainly relating to bracing of the fly tower. The City will undertake these works immediately which will enable a further in-depth structural assessment of the building to determine the building’s structural integrity over the longer term.

Nbn services continue to be rolled out across the City

nbn™ broadband services continue to be rolled out across the City of Armadale, providing more than 32,000 premises direct access to the nbn™ network.

For those residents and businesses in Armadale and Kelmscott that haven’t already switched over to the nbn, now is the time. Many suburbs within the City are due to be disconnected from their previous service at some stage in 2018, however nbn has advised that it will write to residents three months, and also five weeks out, from their disconnection date.

As the service continues to be rolled out there are a number of things for businesses and residents to consider including compatibility with medical and fire alarms and choice of speeds.

A guide for businesses on how to make the switch and a business readiness checklist is available at www.nbn.com.au/business.

For further details and to register for updates about the nbn™ broadband access network head to www.nbnco.com.au/switch.
