Help us make your City website easier to use for a chance to win one of two $50 Gift Cards

City of Armadale residents and business owners are invited to participate in online activities to help the City understand how you use the website for a chance to win one of two $50 Gift Cards for Armadale Shopping City.

The two online activities are part of a review to ascertain how easy it is for visitors to navigate through the City’s website.

The City’s website is a key tool for communicating with its customers and the review will determine where and how we need to improve the website for stakeholders.

Over the last year the website received more than 180,000 visitors, so it’s important that its functionality and visual appearance is giving the user the best and most straight forward experience.

The ‘first click activity’ takes five to 10 minutes and involves clicking on an image on the website home page to indicate where users click first to find the answer to a question, or to complete a task.

The second activity is a 15 to 20 minute ‘sitemap test’ to measure the functionality of the website. Users have to indicate where they would expect to find the answer to a question or complete a task.

If you wish to participate and to view the Terms and Conditions of the competition, please visit www.armadale.wa.gov.au/out-comment by 5pm Wednesday 26 September.

9 ways to protect your home from bushfire

It's time to start thinking about what you can do to protect your property this bushfire season:

  1. Review your fire management and evacuation plan, or develop one if you don’t have one.
  2. Go through your plan with your family so everyone knows what they have to do if a fire threatens, and don’t forget to include the family pets in your plan.
  3. Prepare your property by removing all hanging tree limbs from all buildings, to a minimum three metre clearance from buildings.
  4. Clean your gutters, gables and roof channels to remove all leaf litter.
  5. Remove all dead shrubs and flammable material from the land.
  6. Stash/mow all grass areas to a height less than 5cm and maintain until 14 March 2019.
  7. Prune under shrubs and prune trees to a minimum height of two metres from the ground up around your home and remove build-up of dead leaves from under them.
  8.  Rake up leaf litter from around buildings.
  9. All firebreaks (three metres wide x four metres high) need to be installed as close as possible to the boundary and clear of all flammable material.
