The cost of cleaning up litter and illegal dumping from our streets, parks and reserves cost the City’s ratepayers hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.

The City of Armadale has been taking a coordinated approach to cleaning up littering and illegal dumping in the region and to do it as efficiently as possible.

“The City’s Parks, Waste and Civil Works Departments all work together to ensure our parks, streets, roads and verges are cleared of rubbish and debris,” said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones, OAM JP.

“We are fortunate to live in a region where people take pride in their neighbourhoods. For the most part people do the right thing and keep their verges, streets and local parks clean.

“Although we do our best to patrol the area and clean up any litter or illegally dumped materials we need residents to contact the City when they see littering or illegal dumping occurring.

“We need residents to be proactive and report so we can send our teams out and clean up any mess. If you witness illegal dumping, we also encourage you to take a picture and send it to the City so we can identify those who continue to dump items illegally.

“The City is committed to maintaining our neighbourhoods. We have officers who do a range of jobs including emptying bins, picking up illegally dumped rubbish and removing litter from roads, verges and drains.

“The City also has a dedicated officer that investigates illegal dumping, educates the perpetrators on the correct methods of disposing of unwanted items and issues infringements where necessary,” he said.

To report illegal dumping email info@armadale.wa.gov.au or call Waste Services on 9394 5000.

The City supports recycling and residents are welcome to make use of these facilities where some recyclable items are even taken in for free. To find out more on how to correctly dispose of unwanted items you can go to our website at: www.armadale.wa.gov.au/recycling-and-waste or contact the City at the abovementioned email address or telephone number.
