The City of Armadale is committed to providing a comprehensive waste and recycling service to the community by conserving natural resources and reducing waste to landfill.
Space in Perth metropolitan landfills is limited and there will be no new landfills on the swan coastal plain.
The City’s landfill operations have been kept open due to the incredible recycling efforts by the community. By sorting rubbish, recycling and reusing, the community's collective efforts have made a difference.
We can all do more, minimising waste in the first instance and diverting waste from landfill through reuse and recycling. The State Government applies a landfill levy for every tonne of waste that is buried in landfill. The Landfill Levy will increase on 1 July 2017 to $65 and again to $70 from 1 July 2018. This should encourage our community to improve how we manage our resources and reduce waste to landfill. Follow the principles of the waste hierarchy – AVOID, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle to reduce waste to landfill.
