Recycling and Waste

The City of Armadale is committed to providing a comprehensive waste and recycling service to the community by conserving natural resources and reducing landfill.

Space in Perth metropolitan landfills is limited and there will be no new landfills on the swan coastal plain.

The City’s landfill operations have been kept open due to the incredible recycling efforts by the community. By sorting rubbish, recycling and reusing, the community's collective efforts have made a difference.

We can all do more and achieve higher recycling rates and reduce the amount of waste we produce. The State Government is increasing its levy on landfill progressively over the coming years. From 1 January 2015 the Landfill Levy will increase from $28 to $55. This gives us, as a community, the opportunity to improve how we manage our resources and keep as much out of landfill as possible. Follow the principles of the waste hierarchy – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle to reduce landfill.
