kindness card planted in garden
Release Date:
Tuesday, 3 October 2023

The City of Armadale is once again launching the Acts of Kindness in Armadale project to encourage everyone to spread kindness, ahead of Mental Health Week which runs from 7 to 14 October.

The City has produced a community kindness card, explaining the benefits of acts of kindness and some simple ideas of how to do it.

City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield said while awareness days shine a light on important themes, this is an opportunity for the whole community to get involved and spread some kindness.

“We’ve created a kindness card embedded with thyme and chamomile seeds, making it both recyclable and plantable.

“The card explains the benefits of random acts of kindness and some simple ideas of how to use it,” Mayor Butterfield said.

Those who receive a kindness card can choose to pass on the card or plant the seeds and watch the kindness wave grow.

To maximise community involvement, participating local businesses and organisations will join the City in distributing the kindness cards and will get creative in how they want to spread kindness, as well as attract more local customers.

As an Act Belong Commit partner, the City is committed to encouraging and promoting mental health and wellbeing in the community. Launching the Acts of Kindness in Armadale project is just one of the ways we are spreading the Act Belong Commit campaign about building community connections and creating environments that support good mental health.
