Financial assistance and policy guidelines

The City is committed to assisting individuals, groups and organisations which provide services and support to residents of the City of Armadale.

The City will consider requests for financial assistance in the form of:

  • Community Grants
  • Scholarships
  • Donations

Community Grants

The City provides two rounds of community grant funding each financial year, with the aim of supporting community-based initiatives developed by groups located in the district.

Community Grants 2021/2022 Round 1 - Opens 1 September 2021. Registrations of interest are due on 22 September 2021 and applications are due 29 September 2021.

Community Grants 2021/2022 Round 2 - Opens March 2022.

The amount of funding available to community grants varies from $1,000 to $5,000 depending on the category.

Grant categories

Grants are available in the following categories:

  • Equipment: Maximum $1,000 per application (the City’s funding will not exceed 50% of the total project budget and the 50% must be matched by a cash contribution).
  • Community event or project (one-off): Maximum $2,500 per application (the City’s funding will not exceed 50% of the total project budget, including in-kind contributions).
  • Community project (extended): Maximum $5,000 per application (the City’s funding will not exceed 50% of the total project budget, including in-kind contributions).

How to apply

The City welcomes applications from incorporated community groups and not-for profit organisations that wish to receive funding for projects which benefit the local community.

If your group is a sporting club, a school P & C, a community/art/welfare/art/multicultural/youth/older person's group and everything in between, please contact us.  

To be eligible to apply, community groups are required to discuss their project with a member of the Community Development team prior to submitting their application.

COVID-19 Recovery Grants

COVID-19 Recovery Grants – 2020/2021

Council has allocated an additional $40,000 in its 2020/2021 Annual Budget to extend the Community Grants program in response to COVID-19 for community led programs and activities focused on reviving community services, sports and recreation, to promote wellbeing and enable the community to resume active, connected lives in a COVID-19 safe manner.

Not-for-profit organisations and community groups could apply for grants between $2,000 and $5,000.

Applications will be considered and assessed as they are received, until June 2021 or the allocated funding is exhausted.

The allocated funding has now been exhausted.

The City has developed the following tip sheets to assist you in your funding application.

High School Scholarships

Each year the City provides a $165 scholarship to one high achieving student, nominated by the Principal, from each high school in the area.

General donations

Armadale community groups are invited to apply for a donation to support one-off projects that benefit the local community.

To find out if you are eligible for a donation please contact the Community Development Team on 08 9394 5000.

Sporting, recreation and development donations

Individuals who have been selected to represent the State or Nation in an interstate or overseas competition in a sport, recreational, educational or arts activity are eligible for one donation per financial year.
