Accolade for City’s Youth Worker

The City’s Community Development Officer – Youth, Ashleigh Tapper, has been recognised for her excellence in leadership and mentoring, and her contribution to youth in the Armadale community at the 2018 National Awards for Local Government.

Ashleigh won the award in the Next Gen Local Government Leader category, for her passion and vested interest in human rights, working with communities to seek sustainable transformations, achieving positive outcomes and changing lives and futures for local disadvantaged young people in the Armadale region.

Armadale has the third fastest growing population in the State and it is important that the young people of Armadale have every opportunity to succeed. Through engaging with young people and partnering with key youth organisations on programs such as Armadale Aspire, Perfect Imperfections and Kinetic, Ashleigh has consistently assisted young people in the community to achieve their goals beyond what they thought possible.

Ashleigh will attend the Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly Dinner held in Canberra tomorrow, where the category winners will be presented their awards and the overall winner of the 2018 National Award for Excellence in Local Government (chosen from the category winners) will be announced.

Focus 2018 Competition Winner

Winners of this year’s Focus Photographic competition, The City at Play, were announced last month.

This year the competition attracted over 50 entries across two categories. The happy snaps were taken at various leisure spots around the City, and captured moments of outdoor fun.

If you would like to view the winning photos they are on display at the Armadale library until Friday 22 June.
