Accolades for Armadale’s Exceptional Community Facilities

Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre (AFAC) and the Armadale District Hall were recognised across WA for their exceptional construction at the 2019 Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards. AFAC and Armadale District Hall both received awards over a record number of over 100 entries across the entire state.

PS Structures was the recipient of the Best Public Use Building ($20 million to $50 million) Award for their work on AFAC.

McCorkell Constructions also walked away with the prestigious Best Historical Restoration or Renovation ($1.5 million to $5 million) Award for the construction of Armadale District Hall.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said that the awards attested to the City’s commitment to provide the local community with contemporary community facilities, which cater to the community’s social and recreational needs.

“The Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre and Armadale District Hall are important vibrant and active social hubs for our growing community.”

Local Heritage Survey - Your Comments Count

The City of Armadale is reviewing the Local Heritage Survey which records places of cultural significance in our community and historical and thematic information. Recording the historic, character buildings and places that we still have around the district is crucial, as each one of them tells a different story and contributes to the historic urban fabric of our suburbs. The heritage inventory recognises the importance of heritage places to the local community and provides a record of the places that are an important part of the history of the local area.

Members of the community are invited to comment on the draft Local Heritage Survey, which are representative of the City’s history and should be recorded and preserved.

The draft Local Heritage Survey includes a number of new nominations from the previous Municipal Heritage Inventory which was last reviewed in 2008.

If you are interested in looking at the draft Local Heritage Survey and providing comment, please do so by Monday 16 September via the ‘Public Comment and Notice’ section of the City of Armadale's website
