What are certificates of compliance?

A certificate of compliance certifies a building meets legislation.  A certificate must be issued before a permit can be granted. 

There are three types of certificates of compliance available:

  • Certificate of Design Compliance: proposed building work
  • Certificate of Construction Compliance: completed building work
  • Certificate of Building Compliance: unauthorised building work, strata, change of use.

The City's certification services

The City provides certification services throughout Western Australia. Our service includes assessment:

Within the City of Armadale

  • Building legislation
  • Residential Design Codes
  • Local Development Plan (LDP)
  • Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA)
  • Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES)
  • The City’s Planning and Health departments.

Outside the City of Armadale

  • Building legislation
  • Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).

Apply for a certificate of compliance

  1. Complete the applicable 'Request for Certificate of Compliance’ application form (see below)
  2. Site plan scale 1:200
  3. Submit the application form and any documentation by post, in person or email building@armadale.wa.gov.au.

Fees and charges are provided below.

Within the City of Armadale, the applicable fee must be paid on application submission.

Outside the City of Armadale, the applicable fee will be invoiced.
