Piara Waters named as number one in UDIA WA Property Market Statistics

Piara Waters was recently listed as the number one suburb for vacant land settlements (for the three months to January 2018), in the Urban Development Institute of Australia WA Property Market Statistics Report.

Thirty seven settlements were made, with a median price exceeding the other suburbs in the top five.

This highlights the demand for land in Piara Waters, which has been the fastest growing suburb in the City of Armadale for the past five years, and continues to grow as families, couples and individuals seek land which is affordable, large in size and close to major transport routes.

Rossiter Pavilion and Playing Field

The City is seeking Registrations of Interest to use the recently completed Rossiter Pavilion and Playing Field in Piara Waters from suitable sporting clubs, community groups and other users.

Situated on Tuberose Road in Piara Waters, the community hub hosts a playing field, playground and off street parking, a large pavilion for sports and community use which includes a large main hall, multipurpose room, meeting room and a clubroom with canteen facilities.

Interested users can contact the City’s Sport and Recreation Coordinator on 9394 5000 by Friday 29 June.

Armadale Aspire 2018 program

A group of year 10 students will come together to start a seven week youth career development program on 18 July. After a successful pilot in 2017, the Armadale Aspire program is back, providing local students the opportunity to learn valuable employment skills and explore several local industries through onsite excursions.

A joint initiative between the Economic Development and Community Development teams, the Armadale Aspire program is modelled on the award winning Kwinana Industries Council’s iPROJECTS framework.

This year five businesses are on board, providing students the opportunity to tour and meet individuals from a range of industries, including health care and construction. Students will also take part in a one day entrepreneur’s workshop, opening their mind up to the world of small business, with a special session conducted by Perth engineer and entrepreneur Darren Lomman.

Advocacy Strategy

The City’s 2018 Advocacy Strategy was recently endorsed by Council. The City advocates to bring about change in Government practice, policies, programs, and key infrastructure projects that will provide long term benefits to the area.

NBN Update

Businesses in Armadale and Kelmscott are reminded that if they haven’t already, now is the time to switch to an nbn powered plan.

Several suburbs will be disconnected at some stage during the year as the nbn™ broadband access network is replacing parts of the existing phone and internet infrastructure. Letters from nbn will be sent out three months and then five weeks out from the disconnection date of each property.

Residents and businesses are also reminded that they now have a choice of speeds. When switching to a new plan make sure you choose a speed that suits your specific needs.

The nbn’s guide to Australia’s new broadband is available at: http://www.nbnco.com.au/nbn-guide.html#next.

A guide for businesses on how to make the switch and a business readiness checklist is available at www.nbn.com.au/business.

The design and construction of fixed wireless to service residents and businesses in parts of Forrestdale, Roleystone South and Karragullen has begun. For those residents falling outside of the fixed wireless footprint, the Sky Muster satellite service has been available since 2016.

To find the technology services available for your premises, and to get the latest information including the Retail Service Providers offering services, head to the Check Your Address function on the nbn website at www.nbnco.com.au/switch.
