The presentation ceremony for the winners of the Armadale Young Writers’ Awards for 2014 was held at the City of Armadale’s Seville Grove Library, on Friday 5 September.

Mayor Henry Zelones said the City of Armadale Young Writers’ Awards is a fantastic way to showcase the budding literary talent we have in our community.

“The City of Armadale has always been keen to promote writing and creative expression by our local young people.

“This year’s award received an impressive 153 entries and displayed a very high level of literacy skills with lots of imagination and creativity in the stories.

“During May school holidays, local authors Deb Fitzpatrick and Doris Stutley presented four free writing workshops at the Armadale Library to assist the prospective entrants with their writing skills,” said Mayor Zelones.

The winning stories have been compiled in an anthology which will be on display and for loan in the City of Armadale Libraries.
