With the Easter long weekend approaching and many people planning to travel, the City of Armadale has joined the WA Local Government Association’s (WALGA) RoadWise Program to take part in the Blessing of the Roads campaign.

The campaign is to remind everyone about their responsibility for ensuring the roads are safe in the lead up to and during the Easter long weekend.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the Blessing of the Roads campaign provides an opportunity to promote the importance of road safety in the lead up to the Easter long weekend and school holidays.

“As road users, whether we are driving, riding or walking, we are responsible for our own choices and actions,” he said.

“Road safety is a shared responsibility and given that everyone has a role to play, the Blessing of the Roads is just one of the many ways in which we can contribute to reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads,

“It is also a time to recognise and thank our emergency services, local police and volunteers for helping to make our roads safer.”

As part of the campaign, motorists are asked to plan ahead and leave enough time to get to their destination, change drivers or stop and revive at one of the many Coffee Stop providers or operating Driver Reviver sites, which are run by volunteers throughout WA.
