Donated dress the new showpiece of Made in Armadale exhibition

A newly donated item is set to take pride of place at the Made in Armadale exhibition being held at History House Museum.

Australian eco-fashion and local designer Charlene O’Brien recently donated her very first hand-stitched dress, which was exhibited during the 2007 Ethical Fashion show in Paris, to the Museum’s collection.

Charlene O’Brien is a local designer behind the successful eco-fashion business Tierra Ecologia, which has been featured on the catwalks of Paris and worn by Hollywood celebrities.

Charlene visited History House Museum in January, to present the exquisite garment made from vintage lace and silk to the museum’s collection.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP thanked Ms O’Brien for the contribution to the museums’ collection of artefacts.

“The City of Armadale Library Services welcomes the donation of this beautiful garment, which was created by a local designer and has travelled to Europe and back.
“The Made in Armadale exhibition celebrates creations of all kinds from early industry to fine art, and celebrates the creativity of our local community,” he said.

Made in Armadale exhibition opened in November and will run to 20 April 2016 at History House Museum, Jull Street Armadale.

Entry is free and the exhibition is suitable to all ages.
