The City of Armadale is holding a KidSport registration day on Tuesday 3 March, from 3 to 5pm at the Armadale Library to register kids for club sports instantly.
KidSport is an initiative which provides subsidies of up to $200 per calendar year towards club fees for eligible applicants aged five to 18 years old.
“We all know everyone needs physical activity to stay fit and healthy. Being part of a team provides physical activity and can lead to improved social skills and build lasting friendships,” said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP.
“KidSport provides a vital link for young people in the City who may not otherwise be able to afford a sporting club’s fees and gives them an opportunity to get involved.
“I have both played and coached softball for many years. I enjoyed playing and now regularly watch my sons play and hope to one day be in the stands when my grandchildren participate in sport.
“Playing sport in general is recognised as having positive health benefits. A friend of mine still plays softball and was well into his 70s,” he said.
Local families who hold a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card are encouraged to register for KidSport to assist their children to participate in their chosen sport.
KidSport is a partnership between the City of Armadale and the Department of Sport and Recreation.
