Thirteen local groups will continue their great contributions to building a strong sense of community thanks to Community Grants received from the City of Armadale.
Grants of up to $1000 have been awarded for projects and initiatives as diverse as the Safe 4 Kids Protective Behaviour Program, Araluen Botanic Park, local playgroups and several sporting clubs.
The second round of 2013 - 2014 City of Armadale Community Grants attracted 23 applications from local clubs, community groups and not-for-profit organisations.
The funding can be used for a variety of purposes, including costs associated with staging events, workshops and activities, training and small equipment purchases.
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said it was pleasing to see a diverse range of groups being supported with grants.
"Champion Lakes Boating Club was successful in receiving a grant of $1000 towards the purchase of equipment to enhance capacity to coach beginner students.
"This purchase will assist the club to introduce Kelmscott Senior High School students to rowing, as part of the club’s school program.
"Perth Karate Academy, a relatively new club located in the Forrestdale area, will also benefit from $1000 towards the purchase of a jigsaw mat training floor system for training and competitive use," said Mayor Zelones.
