Award winners with the Deputy Mayor

The winners of the 2023 Armadale Writers Award were announced on Friday 1 December 2023, during a presentation at the Armadale Library.

Congratulations to Tania Park (1st prize), Stefanie Koens (2nd prize), and Joel Huey (3rd prize) for their winning stories.

This creative writing competition is in its seventh year and is open to adult writers living in Western Australia. This year saw over 100 entries submitted.

The Armadale Writers’ Award not only acknowledges excellence in writing, but also cultivates Western Australian writing talent.

Author Anthea Hodgson was the MC for the private award presentation which was attended by Deputy Mayor John Keough, Councillors, the judges, award finalists and their families.

Mayor Ruth Butterfield said “We have a thriving writing community within WA and it’s great to see people sharing their writing through our competition.

“The award has a great legacy of talent discovery, and the 2023 competition was no exception. Congratulations to our winners and thankyou to everyone who submitted a story”.
