With the holiday season approaching, the City of Armadale is joining forces with WALGA’s RoadWise Program to take part in the Road Ribbon for Road Safety campaign to help raise awareness of road safety during this festive season.
The Road Ribbon for Road Safety campaign has been developed to allow the whole community to participate in promoting the message of road safety to friends, family and colleagues during one of the busiest periods on our roads.
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said the Road Ribbon for Road Safety campaign is focused on promoting the Towards Zero vision, WA’s road safety strategy 2008 – 2020.
“The long term vision is of a road transport system where crashes resulting in death or serious injury are virtually eliminated,” Mayor Zelones said.
“To achieve this vision requires shared responsibility where we all have a role to play in working towards a safe system.
“As part of the safe system, road users are responsible for behaving safely, obeying the road rules and purchasing vehicles with key safety features.
“I am urging residents to make sure they do the right thing on the roads – don’t drink and drive, don’t drive tired, don’t speed and do wear a seatbelt.
“To help get the message out there, we will be distributing the road ribbons at this year’s Carols by Candlelight event at Memorial Park, Armadale on Sunday 7 December,” said Mayor Zelones.
Members of the community are encouraged to participate by wearing a road ribbon, available free from the City’s Administration Centre, and promote road safety messages to their friends and family.
