Throughout the year the City of Armadale hosts a series of Positive Ageing Forums at the Armadale Library, to engage older members of the community.

These popular forums are held every month and cover a wide range of topics such as safety and security, health, craft and physical activities for older people and other useful information.

The next session will be held on Wednesday 6 August from 1.30 to 4pm. The first presentation will be ‘Old Zoo, New Zoo’.

A volunteer ambassador from Perth Zoo will outline many interesting facts relating to the history of the Zoo, from its initial opening through to today.

Mayor Henry Zelones said there are many fascinating facts, statistics and stories to hear, such as 10 giraffes being born since 1990 at the Zoo.

“This informative session will shed some light on world class breeding and conservation programs that run from the Perth Zoo.

“I am sure everyone will find it interesting to learn more about successful Perth Zoo programs, such as the Native Species Breeding Program,” said Mayor Zelones.

The second presentation ‘Step into Volunteering’ commences at 3pm.

Representatives from local groups working with animals will be on hand to provide an overview of volunteer positions in their organisations.

The session will also provide information on entry into volunteering and how to find the right volunteer position for you.

Refreshments will be provided between sessions. Bookings are essential. Please call Armadale Library on 9399 0125.
