The Piara Waters Pavilion Sporting Facility was officially opened by the Minister for Sport and Recreation, the Hon Terry Waldron MLA, at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday 15 August, 2014.

Joining the Minister was Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones, who said the Piara Waters Pavilion was the first new sporting and community facility to be developed in the area, to meet the needs of the fast growing suburbs of Piara Water and Harrisdale.

“The new facility will be home to the Piara Waters Senior and Junior Football Clubs, the Piara Waters Cricket Club and will also accommodate a number of other sporting and community groups.

“The facility sits on an elevated platform with a large paved alfresco area, covered by a shade sale providing shade and shelter for spectators.

“There are four separate change rooms with the ability to make two larger change rooms with interconnecting doors.

“The spacious viewing platform overlooks the sports grounds and has a gorgeous backdrop of the Darling Ranges surrounding the City of Armadale,” said Mayor Zelones.

The use of ‘jumbo turf rolls’ for the playing fields, similar to those used on the MCG, meant the sports grounds were available for use prior to the completion of the sporting pavilion.

The facility also has a main hall, meeting room, kitchen and kiosk to provide a social hub for the sporting clubs that use the facility.

The total project cost is over $5.85 million, with over $3.4 million from the North Forrestdale Developer Contribution scheme, $1.4 million from the City of Armadale and $1 million of grant funding secured through the Department of Sport and Recreation’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund.

Piara Waters Pavilion is available for a range of community and recreation activities and would be an ideal venue for mid-size functions.

If you would like to book the pavilion, please contact the City on 9399 0111.
