community citizen of the year award nominations
Release Date:
Monday, 4 September 2023

Nominations are now open for the 2024 Community Citizen of the Year Awards. Each year on Australia Day, the City of Armadale acknowledges and celebrates individuals making a difference in the community.

City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield said every community has its local heroes – they are often the quiet achievers who make your community a better place.

“There are many individuals and groups in our community that do such wonderful things, often over a number of years. They volunteer their time and give outstanding contributions to many organisations through active involvement and their commitment to make a difference in community life.

“These individuals often work behind the scenes and don’t ask for recognition, but it is time to give them the credit they deserve.

“These groups or individuals may have volunteered in areas such as education, health, fund-raising, charitable or emergency services, business, sport, arts, the environment, social inclusion or any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of the local community.

“This is a great opportunity to publicly recognise the significant contribution and inspiring qualities of these individuals who are role models for the community, said Mayor Butterfield.

The four categories in the awards include:

  • Community Citizen of the Year
  • Young Community Citizen of the Year (16 – 30 years of age)
  • Senior Community Citizen of the Year (over 65 years of age)
  • Active Citizenship – group or event

Nominations open on 1 September and close 31 October, 2023. More information about the awards, the nomination process, and how to nominate online can be found at auspire.org.au/programs-awards/community-citizen-of-the-year
