The City of Armadale in partnership with Carers Australia WA will hold three free carer workshops in Kelmscott between April and June.

Carers are invited to attend a workshop on Compassion Fatigue on Wednesday 18 April from 12.30 to 3.30pm.

The workshop will explore how compassion fatigue is a natural process in the caring role and can lead to burn-out, and help give carers the skills that might prevent compassion fatigue, giving them a deeper understanding and keys to maintaining the empathic position.

A second workshop, Agent of Change, will be held on Wednesday 16 May from 12.30 to 3.30pm.

‘Agent of Change’ will examine how maintaining positive health as a carer is about knowing where to draw the line between yourself and the person you care for by creating healthy boundaries.

You will explore communications patterns, how they prevent you from hearing and receiving what you need to support yourselves and those you care for. You will learn how to move beyond anger, guilt and shame to move towards healthy long lasting relationships.

On Wednesday 20 June, a third workshop ‘Grief and You’ will be held from 12.30 to 3.30pm. This session will help carers find a perspective on the loses they may have experienced in their role and explore the process of grieving, allowing it to be seen and experienced as a natural part of life.
