Meet the Author – Barbara Gurney

Local author Barbara Gurney has recently published her new book Road to Hanging Rock. Barbara will talk about her book from conception to publishing, giving you the chance to hear the process from beginning to end.

Positive Ageing Sessions – Let’s Get Crafty, Learn to Cross Stitch

Joanne from Colours Down Under will guide you in the craft of counted cross stitch. This fun workshop is suitable for beginners and visually impaired participants with different size pre-printed designs available.

A kit with all you need will be supplied to participants at a cost of $5 per person payable to the instructor on the day.

Positive Ageing Sessions – Keep Working and Stay Young

With the prospect of people working to an older age, Lee Lenyk, Life Coach and Naturopath, will discuss ideas on how to grow stronger and become more actively engaged in life and work. Lee will cover relevant issues such as:

  • Differing views on ageing
  • Our life scripts and beliefs
  • Advantages and disadvantages of continuing to work
  • Reviewing and valuing your life and self
  • Living in the past or staying present
  • Directorship of your life

Manga Madness Workshop

Manga is a popular style of Japanese animation and drawing. Perth artist Nami Osaki will show you a few basic techniques of the style and will teach you the skills needed to create your own original character.

This workshop is suitable for 12 - 18 year olds. All basic materials will be supplied.

Meet journalist - Ros Thomas at your local library

Ros Thomas writes a popular column in the West Weekend magazine and has just published a selection of her writings under the title Was it something I said? Misadventures in suburbia.

Come along and hear about her life as a journalist on radio and television, as a mother and wife. Ros is an unusual female columnist as her readership is evenly split between males and females.

Free Workshop for Volunteers

The City will host a workshop for Volunteers and Volunteer Managers on personal and professional boundaries.

This free session seeks to increase your understanding of the importance of personal and professional boundaries. The presenter will discuss how to identify poor boundaries and maintaining boundaries.
