Water coming out of a pipe
Release Date:
Friday, 17 November 2023

In the City’s ongoing assessment of local infrastructure, it has been determined that the culvert is no longer fit for purpose.

Following a recent independent assessment of the Neerigen Brook Culvert, it has been determined that the size of the existing infrastructure is not fit to manage the volume of water passing through the brook during high rainfall periods. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the road recently flooding, causing damage to the road.

City of Armadale Mayor, Ruth Butterfield, said “It is important that we undertake infrastructure upgrades such as these, to ensure the safety of our community”.

To avoid any further damage or safety issues, the City is scheduling the culvert replacement at the beginning of 2024; taking advantage of the dry weather and school holidays. The project will require traffic diversions and will cause minor disruption to local residents.

You can stay up-to-date with the project via engage.armadale.wa.gov.au/neerigen-brook-culvert. For further information, please contact the City on 9394 5000 or email info@armadale.wa.gov.au.

Pre-works are expected to commence in December 2023. Replacement works will begin from January 2024.
