Minnawarra Park was a hub of activity last weekend with sounds, tastes and aromas from around the world, as visitors to the annual Minnawarra Festival celebrated the truly diverse range of cultures in the City of Armadale.

Mayor Henry Zelones said the event is a major highlight on the City’s events calendar and appeals to families and people of all ages.

“The crowd had the opportunity to sample the delights from the international food and craft stalls scattered around the surrounds of the beautiful Minnawarra Park.

“The wide range of music and entertainment throughout the day helped to create a cultural festival ambience, which the happy crowd enjoyed.

“The Children’s World tent was once again a key feature of the Festival, bustling with children and the young at heart all working together to create fantastic pieces of art from natural and recycled materials.

“It’s always rewarding to see the children using their imagination and getting back to hands on activities, not to mention the delight on their faces when they create something special that they get to take home.

“Another one of the day’s highlights was the Natural Wonders tent which provided event patrons the opportunity to discover the stunning natural bushland surrounding the City of Armadale.

“Visitors to the festival also enjoyed the novelty of travelling for free around the Armadale CBD, on board the famous Perth Tram.

“This was an opportunity for the whole community to get together and enjoy a fantastic free day out in our City.

“Each year we bring events to the City which celebrates our community and highlight why we love the place in which we live,” said Mayor Henry Zelones.

The festival once again coincided with the prestigious Minnawarra Art Awards, which are on display daily between 11am and 4pm at the heritage listed Armadale Hall until Sunday 13 April.

The Armadale region is home to a vibrant arts community and visitors to the exhibition can view some fantastic artworks created by talented West Australian artists.
