Memorial Park was the place to be for the City of Armadale’s fun free family event in recognition of Children’s Week, held on Friday 29 September, 2023.

Mayor Ruth Butterfield said the event was a big success with numbers exceeding expectation, and around 800 attendees made the most of the perfect spring weather in the City’s lovely centrally located Memorial Park.

“There was an array of children’s hands-on activities and entertainment, along with a free sausage sizzle provided by the Rapid Relief Team which saw a thousand sausages devoured by the crowd throughout the day.

“Young children enjoyed the popular interactive Jazzie Shazzie’s Show and it was great to see them involved in the music, dancing and bubbles fun.

“Other popular activities included a visit from Old MacDonald Farm with a variety of baby farm animals which the kids loved to cuddle along with the puppet show, plaster painting, face painting and arts and crafts”, said Mayor Butterfield.

The event provided an opportunity to host local organisations, who provide services and information to support children’s development needs, to a central space for parents and caregivers to access.

While the children were entertained with the fun stuff, City staff were able to engage with the parents and caregivers to ascertain what the City can do to support them with over 100 surveys completed.
