As we move into spring and mosquito breeding season begins, the City is hosting a free community information workshop to help residents and businesses manage mosquitoes in their area.
Mozzie Wise will be held on Thursday 23 August, from 6 to 7pm at the City's Administration building on 7 Orchard Avenue, Armadale.
It will be an opportunity for the community to hear from specialists from the Department of Health and SERCUL and learn how to stop mosquito breeding in and around their homes.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said it is important to be aware of mosquitoes in and around our home and that we all need to take measures to help prevent mosquito borne disease.
“The City has been active in managing mosquitos in the region for some time now and we are working to keep mosquito borne diseases to a minimum.
“As we head into spring it is important that we continue to mitigate the spread of mosquitoes. We are asking residents and businesses to be proactive to keep our community safe.
“Common breeding sites include pot plant drip trays, gutters, ponds, old tyres, rubbish, rainwater tanks, containers and pools that are not chlorinated or well maintained.
“This session is a great opportunity to learn what you can do around your property and how you can protect your family and pets from mosquito borne disease,” he said.
