Carols
Release Date:
Monday, 22 November 2021

The City of Armadale invites you to join in the festive spirit of the holiday season at the annual Carols by Candlelight event on Sunday 12 December. This family-friendly Christmas event shows the incredible community spirit we have right here in Armadale!

Collect your songbooks and LED candles with a gold coin donation, and join in the musical spectacular. Gates open at 5.30pm with the evening’s program starting at 6.30pm. The program will include performances by local schools and community choirs, supported with live music by local musicians from The Skelton Collective and the Armadale City Concert Band. An exciting addition to this year’s program includes guest performances by Tobi the elf and Megan the elf, The Skelton Collective, The Vocablokes, Peta Lee, and of course, Santa himself! This year, O Christmas Tree will also be sung in Noongar.

“With thousands joining in the festivities, Carols by Candlelight is the perfect mix of high quality music and family entertainment. Everyone will enjoy the festive atmosphere as Memorial Park is filled with candlelight and song for Armadale’s celebration in the lead up to Christmas – so make sure you are part of it, whether in person or online,” said Mayor Butterfield.

“This event focuses on providing our community with an inclusive opportunity to celebrate the festive season. Christmas is a time of the year to be grateful for all we have, and to share in the gift of giving by donating to The Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal,” said Mayor Ruth Butterfield.

People of all ages and all abilities are welcome to join in the festivities at Perth’s most accessible carols event. The City of Armadale is proud to present the DADAA Accessible Viewing Area where spaces can be reserved for people living with disability to enjoy the carols with their families. The following services will be available for those who book them: additional ACROD parking, service dog area, tables and chairs, songbooks in Braille, Auslan interpreter, audio description, and bluetooth assistive listening.

In an annual tradition, The Salvation Army is running a Christmas Appeal to put food on the table for those in need over the festive season. Requested items include non-perishable food items and groceries, such as Christmas-themed food, Christmas cakes, bonbons, boxed custard, tinned foods, packet soups, chocolates, biscuits, potato chips, long-life milk, cereals, pasta, and more.

Donation collection boxes are available at the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre and Armadale Library from Thursday 18 November. Alternatively, grocery goods can be donated on the event day. More information about the Christmas Appeal and Carols by Candlelight can be found at the City’s website under What’s On at www.armadale.wa.gov.au.
