City of Armadale residents are being invited to provide their feedback on a new five-year Draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP).
Earlier this year the City reviewed its 2011-16 DAIP, consulting with people with disabilities who live in, work in or visit the region to help determine ways to make the community more accessible and inclusive.
The City of Armadale DRAFT Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2016-2021 is now open for public comment and those with disabilities or family members, friends, carers of people with a disability and those with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds are also asked for their feedback.
The City developed its first DAIP in 1995 to address barriers within the community for people with disabilities and was the first local government in Western Australia to lodge its DAIP with the Disability Services Commission. Local Governments are required to review their DAIP every five years.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP, said the City was committed to working towards access for all.
“The DAIP allows us to plan and implement improvements to access and inclusion across a number of areas including services and events, buildings and facilities, information, quality of services, complaints, consultation processes and employment,” he said.
“Feedback on the draft plan will assist us in guiding the City to remain proactive in its approach to improving disability services.”
The draft plan is available at www.armadale.wa.gov.au and hard copies are available on request by calling 9394 5642, or email info@armadale.wa.gov.au.
