Despite the City of Armadale’s Library doors being closed to the public until further notice, the City this week commenced a door-to-door home delivery service.

Designed to support elderly and vulnerable community members during the COVID-19 pandemic, the City’s Library staff will deliver books and other library assets for loan to members’ doorsteps.

Approximately 250 people have already signed up via phone, with half of those having already received their first delivery.

“We are all adjusting our lives to cope with COVID-19 and many of us are looking for new ways to keep our minds active,” said Mayor Ruth Butterfield.

“We know reading is incredibly beneficial for our mental health, and libraries offer many options to keep our minds healthy and active.

“It’s wonderful to have our library resources being delivered to community members who may be suffering as a result of the advice to ‘stay home’.”

Members can also access the Armadale Libraries e-library where they can find a range of virtual services – including movies, e-books and magazines.

The resources are free and can be accessed from anywhere with a PC, tablet or mobile phone, all you need is your library card and a login set up to access.
