AUSTRALIA Day is more than just a public holiday – it’s a day of festivity, as Aussies old and new celebrate what’s great about the land Down Under and reflect on what it means to be Australian.
More than 40,000 residents are expected to attend the City of Armadale Australia Day fireworks celebrations this year.
The entertainment this year is bound to impress with five hot Australian acts lined up for the event - Kangaroo Creek Gang Roadshow for the kids, Australian Made playing music from the 1960s, Gang of Three with traditional Irish/Celtic/Australian ballads and performing a selection of Bob Dylan, Brian Ferry and Violent Femmes, Kick – the Australian INXS Tribute Band and pint-sized rockers Feedback the Band.
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said Australia Day showed how people from many countries, backgrounds and walks of life come together to celebrate.
“Every year we host Australia Day celebrations at the beautiful Minnawarra Park in the heart of Armadale, which is a perfect venue for main stage entertainment and of course our stunning sky show.
“This year celebrations will commence at 4pm with a live concert, children’s activities and carnival rides.
“The highlight of the day will be when the City turns on one of the largest spectacular fireworks displays in Western Australia at 8.30pm.
“Bring along your friends and family and celebrate Australia Day in Armadale this year, with entertainment that will continue well into the night,” said Mayor Zelones.
