Carols by Candlelight and Christmas Parade 2022
Release Date:
Monday, 28 November 2022

The City of Armadale invites you to join in the festive spirit of the holiday season at the annual Carols by Candlelight and Christmas Parade on Saturday, 3 December.

The evening kicks off at 5.30pm with the Christmas Parade through Jull Street Mall. Featuring a variety of colourful characters and performances by local community groups, the Christmas Parade is back for the first time since 2019 and provides an exciting spectacle for the young and imaginative.

Following the Parade, the community can collect a songbook and, for a gold coin donation, a LED candle and join in the musical spectacular starting at 6.30pm and enjoy performances by local schools and community choirs, live music by local musicians from the Armadale City Concert Band, and the 2022 Carols by Candlelight House Band directed by Craig Skelton. This year, extra community sing-along songs have been added to the songbook and there will be an Auslan translation for Jingle Bells.

“With thousands joining in the fun, Carols by Candlelight and Christmas Parade is the perfect mix of music and family entertainment,” said Mayor Butterfield. “This year, we welcome back the much-loved Christmas Parade with a total of 13 community groups, most local to Armadale, to entertain the crowd and showcase their group. Other Christmas characters including Santa and Mrs Claus will be there to add to the festive spirit.”

People of all ages and all abilities are welcome to join in the festivities at Perth’s most accessible carols event. The City of Armadale is proud to present the DADAA Accessible Viewing Area where spaces can be reserved for people living with disability to enjoy the carols with their families. The following services will be available for those who book them: additional ACROD parking, service dog area, tables and chairs, songbooks in Braille, Auslan interpreter, audio description, and bluetooth assistive listening.

This year, Crossways will be running a Christmas Food Appeal, to put food on the table for those in need over the festive season. Requested items include non-perishable food items and groceries, such as Christmas-themed food, Christmas cakes, bonbons, boxed custard, tinned foods, packet soups, chocolates, biscuits, potato chips, long-life milk, cereals, pasta, and more.

“Christmas is a time of the year to be grateful for all we have, and to share in the gift of giving, so I encourage those who can, to donate to the Crossways food appeal,” said Mayor Ruth Butterfield.

Food donations can be made at the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre and the City’s libraries until December 1. Alternatively, grocery goods can be donated on the event day. More information about Carols by Candlelight and Christmas is online at www.armadale.wa.gov.au.

Remember, you can enjoy the evening in person or tune into the livestream broadcasted through the City’s website and Facebook Page. The City’s Carols by Candlelight and Christmas Parade is a family-friendly, smoke and alcohol-free event.
