Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG), in partnership with the City of Armadale are holding a series of community planting days over the coming months.

AGLG have secured grant funding to revegetate river foreshores and bushland in the Cities of Armadale and Gosnells with over 113,000 seedlings to be planted this year.

There are a number of great opportunities during the next few months for residents to contribute toward improving their local environment and providing habitat for native animals such as the Black Cockatoos, Bandicoots and Frogs through planting native seedlings and rushes.

Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield said the AGLG has been working with local community groups and school groups for over 25 years to implement environmental restoration projects throughout the bushland with fantastic success.

“The planting days begin at 9am and finish at midday, with morning tea provided. All you have to do is turn up wearing suitable clothing, shoes, hats and your water bottle - all equipment and tools are supplied.

“Volunteers are encouraged to come for an hour or for the whole morning – as many hands make light work.

“All ages are welcome and no prior tree planting experience is required. Just bring along your family, friends or neighbours to enjoy the great outdoors while you meet some like-minded people and learn a little about native plants,” said Mayor Butterfield.

Upcoming planting days:

  • Sunday 2 July, Wright Brook (meet near corner of Connell Ave and Brookside Ave)
  • Saturday 29 July, Armadale Settlers Common (park off Triton Crescent)
  • Sunday 13 August, Araluen Walk Trail, Roleystone (meet at track Thompson Rd)
  • Saturday 14 October, Champion Lakes (park off Lake View Terrace)
