Residents who have considered standing as a candidate for local government are encouraged to put their best foot forward and nominate to become a Councillor or Mayor in the upcoming Local Government Elections on
21 October, 2023.

If you want to participate in the City of Armadale’s Council decision making process, have an interest in people and a willingness to invest your time and energy to serve the needs and interest of your local community - then we have an opportunity for you!

There are seven Councillor vacancies in the City of Armadale this year in the Heron, Hills, Lake, Minnawarra, Ranford, Palomino and River wards. Councillors are elected by the constituents in the ward for which they nominate, but they may live in another ward.

Councillors are elected for a four year term and once elected are bound to make decisions on behalf of all electors across the City of Armadale.

For the first time voters will also be electing the Mayor. The Mayor is a member of Council and has an important role as spokesperson for the City of Armadale as well as carrying out civic and ceremonial duties.

If you are interested in becoming Mayor or a Councillor there are a number of criteria to meet.

The City will be holding an information session about the electoral process, the roles of the Mayor and Councillors and responsibilities and provide an opportunity for questions during a presentation for potential candidates.

Prior to nominations opening on Thursday 31 August, the information session will be held on Wednesday 30 August, 2023 in the City of Armadale Function Room at 6pm, all interested parties are welcome.
