Three budding writers from across Perth were awarded for their creative prose at the Armadale Writers’ Awards presentation, held on Friday, November 20.
The annual competition, launched in 2017, was open to adult writers across the Perth metropolitan area and the wider Western Australian community. The winning entrants shared in a prize pool of $2600.
City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield congratulated the winners on their creative pieces and thanked those from across Perth and Western Australia who entered the competition.
“This is the fourth year that the City has run the competition, which provides a valuable outlet to emerging adult writers living in WA,” said Mayor Butterfield.
“Literary competitions such as the Armadale Writers' Awards are important for amateur writers as it allows them to develop their skills and receive feedback about their work. The awards are very popular, and we have an abundance of aspiring writers from across WA, choosing to submit their work to our competition.”
Author Laurie Steed hosted an online writing workshop for aspiring writers and prospective entrants which focused on tips for writers seeking to enter their work in literary competitions.
Mr Steed was the MC for the private award presentation which was attended by City of Armadale Council members, judges, the award finalists and their families.
