City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones has welcomed recent advice from Main Roads (MRWA) that the City has been successful in obtaining two extra Metropolitan Regional Road Group (MRRG) Road Rehabilitation Grants.

The extra grants received from MRWA are for the resurfacing on Streich Avenue from Foster Road to Ullyott Street ($84,983) and reconstruction of Nicholson Road, from Armadale to Swamp Road ($100,859), with a contribution from Council of $92,922 for both projects.

Mayor Henry Zelones said the funding for the rehabilitation works goes a long way to help enhance and improve road safety within the City.

“The City is very pleased to be receiving almost $190,000 for these important local infrastructure projects.

“Although these works were of high priority, we were originally advised by the MRWA that the grant applications had been unsuccessful as the City had already reached the maximum available total allocation of $750,000 for the 2014 – 2015 period.

“We are grateful the needs of local government, and growth councils in particular, have been recognised in this way by Main Roads WA,” said Mayor Zelones.
