A Quiet Crossing by Jonathan Cox
Release Date:
Tuesday, 4 June 2019

A presentation evening for the winners of the FOCUS Photographic competition was held at the City’s Armadale Library on Saturday 1 June 2019.

Open to adult amateur photographers, the theme of this year’s competition was Crossing the Line.

Photographers were tasked with the challenge to capture images of our local rail crossings and stations in two categories of Present Day and Historical (pre 1990).

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said Metronet have indicated that works will commence on the removal of the Denny Avenue site later this year.

“The City is very keen to build on the Birtwistle Local Studies Library’s Picture Armadale photographic collection, and what better way than to involve our local community.

“The competition was launched in February and attracted a total of 155 entries across the two categories.

“Once again we received some interesting images of local rail crossings from years ago and from present day”, he said.
